Will a photo archive video free iPhone storage?
A smaller archive video does not automatically mean that your device is using less storage overall.
Count all the copies
The archive video is saved in Photos. Original photos may remain in the library, and the app may retain original files in its local package for exact restore. Consider the total across Photos and app data instead of comparing just the video with the source images.
Review before deleting
The app shows archive-specific storage information before offering deletion. Results depend on image content, formats and settings. Keep originals during your first test and verify that you can export the images you need. No fixed percentage of storage savings is promised.
Recently Deleted still matters
Deleting originals through Photos normally moves them to Recently Deleted for up to 30 days. Storage recovery may not be immediate. Emptying that album removes a recovery option, so do not do it until your archive and separate backups are checked. iCloud synchronisation can also take time.
Should I delete the app to reclaim its data?
Only after preserving anything you need. Deleting the app also removes local packages required for exact original restoration.
