How can I turn photos into an archive video on iPhone?

Photo2Video Archive stores selected photos as frames in an HEVC video. It is an archive workflow, not a replacement for every kind of photo backup.

Start with a small selection

Use a few non-critical photos for your first archive. Review the selected images and create the video. The app encodes and verifies the archive before saving it to Photos. Processing time depends on the device and the size and number of images.

Check the result

Keep your originals while you open the archive and export a few test frames. Verify the images that matter to you. A playable video alone does not prove that every original file can be restored byte-for-byte.

  1. Choose photos from the accessible library.
  2. Create the archive and wait for verification.
  3. Keep Originals when first testing.
  4. Open the archive in the restore workflow.
  5. Export a few frames and compare them.

Keep both kinds of data in mind

HEVC is lossy. Exported video frames are re-encoded images. Exact original files require the local originals package, which is removed if you delete the app. Keep a separate backup of important originals and retain the archive video.

Is the archive the same as a slideshow?

It is designed to store photo frames with an embedded archive map for the app’s restore workflow.
